SUMMARY:Science Café: The Tree of Life
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Museum’s Science Cafés for engaging conversation about a variety of science topics. A comfortable atmosphere provides the setting for lively discussions. \nTopic\nThe Tree of Life:  The Importance of Biodiversity in Conservation\, Medicine\, Agriculture and Ecology\, with Douglas Soltis\, Ph.D.\, Distinguished Professor of Biology\, Florida Museum \nDescription\nThe Tree of Life has emerged as a grand symbol and organizing principle for biodiversity. The Soltis Lab’s current research involves building the green plant branch\, a group of about 500\,000 species. In this presentation\, learn about the use of new digital methods of storytelling to convey why knowledge of the Tree of Life is important for human well-being and survival. \nDetails\nParticipants purchase their own food and beverage from a special Science Café menu. Seating and food/beverage ordering begin at 6 p.m. Please note that seating is on a first-come basis (except when wheelchair access is requested in advance). \nAs space is limited for these FREE programs\, PLEASE RSVP via Eventbrite.
