SUMMARY:Science Café: Larger Foraminifera
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Museum’s Science Cafés for engaging conversation about a variety of science topics. A comfortable atmosphere provides the setting for lively discussions. \nTopic\nLarger Foraminifera: The Forgotten Fossils Beneath Your Feet\, with Laura Cotton\, Ph.D.\, Research Assistant Professor\, Florida Museum and UF Department of Geological Sciences \nDescription\nLarger foraminifera are amazing\, single-celled organisms that create huge\, complex shells. Although the fossilized shells are abundant within the limestones of Florida\, the U.S. Gulf Coast and the Caribbean\, little is known about these regional species. Learn how studying the unique fauna of the Americas helps us better understand past climates\, evolution\, extinction events and biostratigraphy within reef-type environments. \nDetails\nParticipants purchase their own food and beverage from a special Science Café menu. Seating and food/beverage ordering begin at 6 p.m. Please note that seating is on a first-come basis (except when wheelchair access is requested in advance). \nAs space is limited for these FREE programs\, PLEASE RSVP via Eventbrite. (Registration starts Sept. 25.) Reservations open three weeks before the event. \n\n	Register Online	\n\n
