DESCRIPTION:The Florida Museum invites you to a special event at the Millhopper Branch of the Alachua County Library District to help support pollinator conservation. Pick up a free plant and plant for pollinators! \nPollinators are an extremely important part of the ecosystem but you don’t have to be a researcher to help protect them. Planting native flowering plants in your yard\, patio and even in pots can provide vital habitats and food for bees\, butterflies\, moths and other pollinators. Learn about the importance of native plants\, wildflowers and more at this family-friendly event! \nEach visitor can choose one plant from a variety of native species\, available on first come\, first served basis until we’re out: \n\nSwamp Milkweed\nClimbing Aster\nTall Elephantsfoot\nForked Bluecurls\nFrogfruit\nSnow Squarestem\nBlue Mistflower\nCorkystem Passionflower\nSeaside Goldenrod\n\n \nMore resources\n\nFlorida’s Wildflowers & Butterflies – Learn about the 50 most common wildflowers and butterflies in our state\, and how to plant to best support local pollinators.\nEndangered Butterflies in a Changing Climate – Our online exhibit explores the Miami blue butterfly\, one of the most critically endangered butterfly species in the united States.\nButterfly Brochures & Resources – Download and print a butterfly coloring book\, butterfly brochures and garden signs.
