We love plants! Join us for the fourth international Fascination of Plants Day.

From one little seed, many green lives can arise – from small herbs to big trees, from ornamental flowers to the crops that animals and humans need to survive. Plant biologists estimate there are about 250,000 plant species on Earth.

Learn more about plants with our scientists and hands-on activities right here in the Museum!

  • Explore the underground world of plants! Learn the differences between the various storage organs beneath the surface, such as potatoes and tulip bulbs. Discover how people interact with these plants on nearly a daily basis.
  • Can you recognize poison ivy from among other Florida native plants? Put your identification skills to the test and examine botanical specimens to determine the correct one.
