DESCRIPTION:**CANCELED** \nDue to public gathering restrictions\, this year’s ButterflyFest celebration has been canceled along with the Facebook Photo Challenge. We apologize for the inconvenience. Stay tuned for more upcoming virtual events this fall to fuel your pollinator fix! \n\nThe Florida Museum is hosting the eighth annual ButterflyFest Facebook Photo Challenge! The challenge is designed to educate and promote awareness of biodiversity and wildlife through photography. \nCapture your best picture and enter by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Monday\, Sept. 28\, for your chance to win prizes! Anyone\, at any age\, can enter this free challenge. \nThe Museum will post the top 10 images from entries received on its Facebook page Oct. 5\, and the public will select the overall winner online via the most ‘likes.’ In addition\, there will be a Judges’ Award given to the judging panel’s favorite image. \nThe winning photographers will be recognized during ButterflyFest on Saturday\, Oct. 17\, 2020. \nCheck out the previous year’s winning image for inspiration! \n\n	\n\n	\n	\n		\n			\n			How to Enter		\n	 \n	\n	\n		\nDeadline: Monday\, Sept. 28\, 2020 – 11:59 p.m. EDT \nCost: Free \nWho can enter: Anyone\, at any age! This is an international contest open to amateur photographers. \nTheme: Backyard Biodiversity \nImage criteria: Depiction of backyard biodiversity including flora or fauna in a natural setting. \nJudging: The Florida Museum photography department will select the top 10 images from all entries received by the deadline that meet the challenge criteria and requirements. The Museum will post these images on its Facebook page Monday\, Oct. 5\, and the public will select the overall winner online via the most ‘likes.’ In addition\, there will be a Judges’ Award given to the judging panel’s favorite image. \nPrize: Gift basket\, including Museum merchandise and eight Butterfly Rainforest tickets. The winning photograph will be published in The Gainesville Sun\, featured on the Museum’s website and displayed at the Florida Museum of Natural History through the end of the event month. \nRequirements:\n\nOnly one photo per entrant will be accepted.\nPhoto entry must have been taken within the last year. Any photo taken before Aug. 1\, 2019\, will be disqualified.\nSave image as a .jpg\nName .jpg file as entrant’s initials and date the image was taken.\nExample: kg081519.jpg (kg for Kristen Grace\, 081519 for August 15\, 2019)\nApply only minor post-production adjustments. Please do not resize image.\nExample: cropping\, color correction and minor image sharpening are acceptable. Images with heavy manipulation such as changing the content of the image or combining multiple images will be disqualified. The decision of the judges is final.\nEntry must include some aspect of the theme in the image.\nOnly email entries will be accepted. Please do not send hard copies (prints).
