Dr. Bauer’s expertise is in Earth science education and science communication. Her primary duties include researching potential collaborators, providing expert content about Earth sciences, and programmatic planning and execution.   

Bauer received her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her master’s degree in geological sciences from Ohio University with a focus on brachiopod evolution and paleobiogeography. She received her Ph.D. in geological sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a focus on echinoderm paleobiology.
