“Friend or Foe: Investigating the Relationship Between Green Turtles and a hitchhiking fish”
Why do remoras attach themselves to sea turtles? Ashley will open by sharing her discoveries about the relationship between these unusual hitchhikers and green turtles, and how they may influence turtle behavior
David Duffy, UF Whitney Lab for Marine Bioscience & Sea Turtle Hospital
“See no sea turtles…hear no sea turtles…find them anyway?”
Dave will discuss how cutting-edge genetic tools are transforming how we can track sea turtles in the ocean, trace their origin, and study the diseases they carry on nesting beaches, all without coming into contact with them.
Natalia Teryda, School of Natural Resources and Environmental/ACCSTR
“Eyes in the Sky: Using Drones to Understand and Protect Sea Turtles in South America”
Natalia closes with a visually compelling and applied conservation approach, showing how technology is transforming field research and management.

- 6:30 p.m. – Event starts! Grab a bite, brew, and mingle with faculty/staff from the Archie Carr Center for Sea Turtle Research and the Sea Turtle Conservancy
- 7-8 p.m. – Speakers will present and lead audience discussion.
- 8-8:30 p.m. – Meet the speakers and other representatives from local organizations.
