Description

Members and guests meet for the plant ID workshop and guest speakers. Topics range widely but are centered on native plants and Florida plant and animal ecosystems.

  • Wednesday, September 21: Plant ID workshop
  • Wednesday, September 21: Dr. Reed Noss will talk about the Conservation Significance of Southeastern Grasslands.
  • Saturday, September 24: Dr. Noss will guide us through Gold Head State Park to show us examples of what he talked about on Wednesday.
  • Wednesday, October 18:  Dr.Lee Bloomcamp will guide us through the history of the bat houses on the UF campus.
  • Saturday, October 29: Dr. Bloomcamp will lead a field trip to the bat houses on campus as well as at the ACT bird banding lab and wildflower gardens.
  • Wednesday, November 15: Andrew Gude will talk about the Lower Suwannee River Valley NWR.
  • Saturday, November 19: Debbie Meeks will lead a field trip to the Lower Suwannee NWR.

What will students learn?

A diverse group of native plant and native ecosystem enthusiasts with knowledge to share. It is a good opportunity for students to meet professionals in environment and ecosystem fields of study and employment.
