The number of manatee deaths decreased last year from 2018 numbers. Most of this decline is attributed to fewer deaths related to red tide.

This summer, Escambia County will put nearly $60,000 in grant money from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission into the installation of an artificial snorkeling reef to provide habitat for sea creatures.
